What is the Gospel?

If there is one thing that our church would like you to know, it is the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel is the foundation of our unity with one another and with God, the basis of our peace with the past and of our hope for the future, and the most wonderful news anyone could ever receive. If you’ve never heard the gospel before, there is no more important decision you will ever make than how you will respond to this news.

What is the Gospel? The Gospel is the joyous declaration that God is redeeming the world through Christ and that He calls everyone everywhere to repent from sin and trust Jesus Christ for salvation.

Each of us have sinned against God, breaking His law and rebelling against His rule, and the penalty for our sin is death and hell.

But because of His love, God sent His Son Jesus to live for His people’s sake the perfect, obedient life that God requires and to die on the cross in our place for our sin.

On the third day, Christ rose bodily from the grave and now reigns in heaven, offering forgiveness, righteousness, resurrection, and eternal blessedness in God’s presence to everyone who repents of sin and trusts solely in Him for salvation.

To hear another way of describing the Gospel, we encourage you to read the following presentation entitled “Two Ways to Live,” by Matthias Media.

There are many ways you can choose to live your life, but from God’s perspective there are only two ways. We hope that God makes the truth about Himself and about eternal life clear to your mind and delightful to your heart. There is only one way to God: through Jesus Christ. Have you repented of your sins and trusted in Christ for your salvation? Your soul is too important to ignore the way of salvation.
